James Michael "Jim" Penney, 69, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020 surrounded by family.
Jim was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on July 20th 1951. He Joined the United States Army, at the age of 17 and left for the Vietnam War the month of his 18th birthday. Jim was stationed in Germany, Vietnam and then back to Germany. He spent 3 years overseas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and June Penney.
Jim is survived by his daughters, Toby Penney Bradley (Michael) of Frankfort, Kentucky. Amanda Penney Thomas (Michael) of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Elizabeth Fowler (Jerry) of Lookout Valley, Tennessee. Five grandchildren, Elly, Thaxton, Gracie, MJ and Keelyn. Sister, Brenda Gibson (Steve) and brother, Ken Penney.
A jack of all trades, Jim took the most pride in his years as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor at the Crossroads Treatment Center and the Veterans Administration.
A small graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 2 at 1:00 p.m.in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
