John Russell Pangman, 79 of Ooltewah, passed away December 22, 2019.
He was born in Hinsdale, Illinois to the late Russell and Floy Pangman. He lived in Battle Creek, Michigan for 3 years prior to spending 39 years in Berrien Springs, Michigan. He was married to his wife Rachel for 59 years and were members of Collegedale SDA. He earned several degrees including a bachelor’s degree from Andrews University, a master’s degree from Western Michigan and a Ph.D from Indiana University.
John was a member of the Berrien Springs Optimist Club for many years and served as president for a period of time. During his professional years, he was a member of the SDA-HPERA organization and was very involved in the health seminars and conferences. He received many awards for his outstanding teaching, sports and athletics.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rachel Pangman; daughters, Rachelle Pangman and Heather Pangman; adopted granddaughter, Alaina Burke; brother, George (Micki) Pangman with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends, students and colleagues.
Visitation will be in the Collegedale Church of Seventh-day Adventists Sunday, January 19 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.. Pastor George Pangman will conduct the service at 3 p.m.
