Judy Sherrell Meeks, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, ceased her worldly suffering on January 24, 2020.
A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Judy was a member of the 1967 class of Chattanooga High School. She graduated in 1969 from Erlanger Hospital School of Radiologic Technologists, and as part of her 28 year career at Erlanger Health System, she performed the first CT scan in Chattanooga.
An avid reader, Judy enjoyed trips to the beach, outwitting opponents at Word Chums, and the crooning of both Conway Twitty and Rod Stewart. She delighted in raising her sons and later in spoiling her feline fur kids.
A member of Red Bank Baptist Church, she is preceded in death by her parents, James “Jim” and Irene Sherrell.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, John Meeks, her sons Bryan (April) and Nik (Fallon), her grandchildren Rance (Jessica), Matt, and Cade, and great-grandson Aiden. She is also survived by her siblings Linda Sherrell Compton of Crestwood, KY, Michael Sherrell (Myra) of Knoxville, TN, and Kristie Sherrell Clement (Ray) of Midland, MI.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Judy's life on Thursday, February 6th from 6-8 pm at Red Bank Baptist Church’s Student Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Lung Association (https://action.lung.org).
