Maria Guffey Obituary

Maria Angela “Angie” Guffey, 65, of Chattanooga, Tennessee passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, May 04, 2022. Angie was born on November 24, 1956 in San Diego, California, of the late Carl Eugene Guffey and Patricia Joanne Guffey. She was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and a member of Lake Hills Church of God.

Angie was a 1974 graduate of Chattanooga Valley High School. After completing high school, she earned her CNA at Chattanooga State Technical Community College. She went on to work with many families in the Chattanooga area to provide private caretaking for their loved ones in her home.

Angie had a servant’s heart and genuinely enjoyed caring for others, especially those unable to care for themselves.

She loved her family and friends fiercely, and was the person you sought out when you wanted an honest opinion. Angie was an avid reader, who enjoyed a good mystery and a cup of hazelnut coffee. She was a lover of Panera Bread and El’ Meson. You could often find her there gathered around her many friends, laughing and socializing.

Angie was preceded in death by her father, Carl Eugene Guffey; mother, Patricia Joanne Guffey; adoptive parents, Jim and Olene Wallace, and nephew, Carl Eugene Guffey III.

She is survived by her loyal dog, Fredrick; brothers, Carl (Linda) Guffey; brother, Bruce (Dawn) Guffey; sisters, Trisha “Patty” Guffey (David) Spradlin, Dottie Jones; aunt, Fran Reindeau, and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Lake Hills Church of God for Pastor Larry Nash 4311 Shelborne Drive Chattanooga, TN.
