Nancey Wilkes Obituary

Nancy Evelyn Chadwick Wilkes, 86, of Harrison, Tennessee took the Lord's hand and he led her into heaven on December 3, 2020. Born to the late Nell Shankles Chadwick and Preston Edward Chadwick on February 5, 1934 in Valley Head, Alabama. She is predeceased by the love of her life, husband Harold Brice Wilkes. Her brother, Berlis Chadwick, sister Doris Palmer, brothers-in-laws Lebron Wilkes and Ernest Palmer, as well as her son-in-law, Charles Dunlap, all predeceased Nancy. She is survived by her two daughters, Jerri (Barry) Bergren and Paula Dunlap as well as her grandchildren, Brooke (Justin) Rongey, Blake Wachtveitl, Taylor and Preston Vandergriff and her two great-grandchildren, Roman and Nora Rongey. Nancy is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Leona Chadwick and Joyce Wilkes along with loved nieces and nephews.

Nancy Wilkes attended Valley Head High School where she was a cheerleader and an avid shortstop and she even played on the church's softball team for a season alongside daughter, Jerri. She was a real estate agent and then a secretary at Dixie Yarns of Chattanooga from where she retired. She adored the horses she had for a time and loved dogs her whole life. She enjoyed flowers and watching birds on the bird feeder. Her husband, Harold, of 66 years, her family, friends, and home were the most important parts of her life. All were made to feel welcome. She was beautiful inside and out and her kind and loving nature was a witness of God's love shining through her. She loved the Lord and was a lifelong member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
