Robert Fred Taylor

Robert “Bob” Fred Taylor, 63, of Atlanta, passed away Saturday, July 6th, 2019 in Harrison, TN.  

Bob was a native of Chattanooga, TN growing up on the shore of Lake Chickamauga at Wolftever Fishing Club. The family’s cabin there was his favorite place on Earth. He enjoyed bringing his family and friends there, working on his boat, and water skiing. Witnesses claim he could ski both barefoot and on an oar.

His family moved to Atlanta in 1969 where he graduated from Lakeside High (1973). He earned an Associate of Business Administration degree at Dekalb Community College and then a Bachelor of Business Administration degree at Georgia State University (1979). Like his father, he had a career in the packaging industry as a field salesman of machinery, ink, and various paper products.

Bob met his wife Kathy in October of 1988. They fell for each other quickly and were married on July 1st, 1989. Their son Matthew was born in August of 1990. Bob was a dedicated family man who always made sure to attend his son’s athletic and school events, despite the heavy travel demands of his job. He was strong, good-hearted, and extremely generous with his time and knowledge. He frequently took on new projects to support family and friends, and he was often found tinkering in the garage.

In the words of one of his oldest friends, “Bob was a real swell guy.”

Predeceased by his father William. Survived by his wife of 30 years Kathleen, his son Matthew (Lisa), his two grandchildren Calvin and Chloe, his mother Betty, his brother Bill (Tami), his sister Beverly (Kenneth), his nephews Patrick and Kyle, and his niece Ashley.

A memorial service will be held at the pavilion of Kingsbridge Retirement Community, 3055 Briarcliff Rd NE, Atlanta, GA on July 20th at 2PM.
