“I can only imagine
What it will be like
When I walk by Your side
I can only imagine
What my eyes would see
When Your face is before me
I can only imagine...”
Mickey does not need to imagine any longer as he now knows firsthand what it is like to walk by our Savior's side and be surrounded by His Glory!
His family walked him Home as he peacefully fell into the arms of Jesus on Monday, August 22, 2022. We can only imagine that he was also greeted by so many family members and friends that have passed on before him, but especially his Dad and twin brother.
To say he made an impact on everyone he encountered is an understatement. His smile and friendly words made you feel right at home. His laugh and witty humor set you right at ease and could have you laughing with him in no time. His cheerful personality and positive outlook could have you seeing the positive side in any situation. His love for his family was deeply rooted and second only to his love for Christ. But, most of all, his love for his Savior was unparalleled. He was not perfect but lived what he preached to his flock at MVBC. He lived and modeled his motto "An upward focus causes an inward change that has an outward impact." He loved being a missionary and teaching others that a missionary is "any Christian who goes anywhere to tell anyone about the love of Jesus Christ." He loved sharing the Gospel with others whenever – and wherever – he could: from hundreds of kids at church camps, to kids and families in foreign countries, to kids and families in the most desolate areas of the US, to those he encountered during his cancer journey, and even from the waiting room of a tattoo shop.
As the shepherd of his flock at MVBC, he took this God-appointed position very seriously and was not afraid to be transparent in his teaching and share what he was personally being dealt with by God.
As a husband, he was the spiritual leader of the home and never let a moment go by that he did not tell or show his wife how much he loved her.
As a father, he lived by example, admitted his mistakes, always pointed his three kids to the Father for the answers they needed, and told his kids how much he loved them and was proud of them every time they spoke.
As Poppa Mick, he cherished every second spent with his precious little "nugget", Juliet. Her sweet smile and soft voice whispering “Pop Pop” warmed his heart and brought a smile to his face on even the toughest of days.
Our family is overwhelmed and humbled by the outpouring of love shown to us over more than a year and a half since Mickey’s cancer journey began. Love shown as continuous prayers, texts, cards, or calls, endless meals, lending a hand with various physical needs at the home, financial gifts that filled the gap amidst mounds of medical bills, and the list goes on and on. All of you have been the sweet hands and feet of Jesus and we can never thank you enough. ❤️
