Willie Frances Miller Atkin, 92, passed away peacefully at her home on April 18, 2020.
Frances was the daughter of the late Herbert Hobson Miller, Sr. and Dolphia Camelia Cunningham; husband, Thomas William “Tuck” Atkin, Jr.; sisters, Rebecca Irene Bedoit, Della Birch Lawrence, Jo Ruth Reel, and Madeline Clyde “Sweetpea” Baker; brothers Herber Jr., Bailey Ben, Alpha Dolph, Harry A. and Ralph Cunningham Miller.
She is survived by her children, Patricia L. and Daniel D. Dyer of Fort Oglethorpe, GA; granddaughter, April Dyer Pittman, Memphis, TN; adoptive daughters, Vicki B. (Donald) Mielcarek and Julia B.(Timothy) Holton, both of St. Louis, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended children that adopted her as a mother.
Frances was born August 27, 1927 in Elbridge, Obion County, TN. She was the seventh born of ten children. She resided in numerous locations in Tennessee and in St. Louis, MO, Seminole, Palm Harbor and Inverness, FL and finally Fort Oglethorpe, GA. She was a 1945 graduate of Central High School, Chattanooga, TN and 1949 graduate of the University of Chattanooga. She was an avid golfer while living in Florida with two holes-in-one and a master bridge player.
The family wishes to thank the staffs at Erlanger Medical Center, NHC Healthcare of Fort Oglethorpe and Hearth Hospice of Fort Oglethorpe for their loving care and attention.
A private service will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at a later date.
