Mrs. Zoe "Koody" Spanks Hartung died peacefully in Whitwell, TN on September 11, 2023 at the age of 68.
Zoe is survived by her husband, Mike Hartung and sons, Aaron Hartung and Lance Hartung; siblings, Holly Jamison of Edgewater, Florida and Deborah Ryder of Rangeley, Maine.
Zoe is preceded in death by Zoa and Jack Spanks from Quincy (Squantum) Massachusetts.
Zoe was born on October 4, 1954, in Quincy (Squantum) Massachusetts to Jack and Zoa Spanks.
Zoe graduated from Chandler School for Women in 1974 with an Associate Degree in Business Administration.
Mike and Zoe met in Ft. Lauderdale Florida, they moved to Chattanooga and married in 1995. Zoe's most fulfilling job was working for Teen Challenge as the Development Coordinator and with her husband, Mike.
Zoe's children remember her as a loving mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals in life. Zoe had the most outgoing personality, and it was easy for her to meet people and develop relationships. She was always the life of the party.
Zoe loved sailing and the ocean. She grew up at Squantum Yacht Club taking sailing lessons and actively participated in racing. She later taught sailing and lived on a sailboat. She was a generous, witty, and dedicated individual who loved people and who was passionate about sharing Christ. She was also a passionate Patriots fan. She was an active and dedicated member of Calvary Chapel Chattanooga and always looked forward to her special bible study group.
The visitation is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Friday, September 29th at Calvary Chapel Chattanooga 3415 Broad Street Chattanooga TN 37409 and the service will start at 3:00 PM. Pastor Darren Delaney will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Zoe's life.
