About Us

About Us

A fifth‑generation funeral service provider serving Tennessee and Georgia since 1894

Covenant Funeral & Crematory is a family business in the oldest, truest sense of the word.

We’ve been serving this community for more than 130 years — long before corporate chains, discount cremation websites, or marketing buzzwords took over the profession.

We’re still here because families trust us.

Not because of a slogan.

Not because of a building.

But because we show up, we’re honest, and we do the work the right way.

We’re the safe, local, middle lane

There are two extremes in funeral service today:

  • Corporate funeral homes with high pressure, high prices, and a script for everything
  • Discount cremation providers with low prices, low transparency, and no real support

We’re neither.

We’re the middle lane — the place families choose when they want:

  • real people
  • real transparency
  • real accountability
  • an on‑site crematory
  • and a steady guide who doesn’t disappear after the paperwork is signed

We don’t upsell.

We don’t cut corners.

We don’t outsource care.

We don’t hand you off to strangers.

We keep things simple, honest, and human.

We operate our own on‑site crematory

This matters more than most families realize.

Many funeral homes — including some that advertise “cremation services” — do not perform cremations themselves.

They outsource to third‑party facilities you’ll never see and never meet.

We don’t.

Your loved one stays in our care the entire time.

No transfers.

No hand‑offs.

No guessing.

If you have questions, we answer them.

If you want clarity, we give it.

If you want to understand the process, we walk you through it.

Transparency isn’t a marketing angle for us — it’s how we’ve always operated.

We don’t maintain a chapel — and that’s intentional

Some funeral homes build large chapels and then funnel every family into the same room, the same format, the same script.

That’s not us.

We don’t maintain a chapel because:

  • families prefer churches, homes, parks, and meaningful spaces
  • gatherings feel more personal outside a funeral home
  • you shouldn’t be limited to whatever room is available
  • we don’t believe in forcing a template on anyone

If you choose to have a service, we support you — but you choose the place, not us.

We keep the process clear and manageable

When someone dies, families don’t need a sales pitch.

They need:

  • clarity
  • honesty
  • steady guidance
  • and someone who can break things down into simple steps

That’s what we do.

We explain what needs to happen now, what can wait, and what doesn’t matter as much as people think.

We help you make decisions without pressure.

We handle the paperwork and logistics so you can focus on your family.

We’re a family business — not a brand

You won’t find corporate language here.

You won’t find stock photos.

You won’t find a rotating cast of employees.

You’ll find:

  • the same family that has served this community for generations
  • the same commitment to transparency
  • the same belief that funeral service should be human, not theatrical
  • the same values that have kept us here since 1894

We don’t pretend to be something we’re not.

We just do the work — carefully, respectfully, and without drama.

If you want to know who we are in one sentence

We’re a fifth‑generation, on‑site, family‑run funeral service provider that keeps things honest, simple, and human — without the

corporate pressure or the discount‑provider shortcuts.

Our Heritage

Covenant Funeral & Crematory is more than a funeral home — we are a family dedicated to serving others with compassion and care. For generations, our team has provided affordable, dignified funeral and cremation services to families throughout Hamilton County and Chattanooga. The Crox family’s history in funeral service spans five generations, beginning with their involvement in the Fike family-owned funeral home in Cleveland, Tennessee, prior to its sale in 1987. We remain committed to carrying on that legacy of integrity, excellence, and heartfelt service.
